Web Design

TY Web Design
In this 7 week rotation students will design their own websites on a topic of their choice. We will use an online development environment called code.org and will learn HTML, Javascript and CSS. At the end of the 7 weeks these websites will go live on the Internet.

Picture

:
  1. What makes a good website? Research examples of good and bad websites based on your criteria. Discuss WHY?
  2. Introduction to Weebly. What can it do? Receive project topics and plan layout.
  3. What makes a good photo? Quality, size, fitting with your theme. Adding photos and links.
  4. Adding video and using embeded code to enhance your website
  5. Project Work
  6. Students present their websites to the class

The Plan

Assessment - What should be in my website?

Students work in pairs to create a website to a specific theme. The website must have the following:
  • Photos   (good choice of high quality photos)
  • Content   (plain English, interesting, focused)
  • Layout    (clear & obvious)
  • Links  (links to external sites, files)
  • Some embedded code (map, twitter feed etc)
  • 5 pages
  • A page showing research of good and bad websites discussing why.
